To MBHS Class of 1958 50th Reunion Committee:
The following e-mail was sent to Vonnie Varner from the MBHSAA. I am forwarding it to all committee members for any response or suggestions you might have...
Dear Buc Alumni and Staff --
Missing the "old days"? Here is some exciting news from MBHS...
This year the Mission Bay High School Parent/Teacher Organization (Friends of Pacific Beach Secondary Schools) initiated the MBHS Alumni Association (MBHSAA) in order to maintain a lasting relationship between the graduates of MBHS, create a continued sense of "BUC pride" and host alumni events on campus.
I have always believed an inspired idea takes on a life on its own and the MBHSAA is no exception. We are off to an amazing start as Randy Bundschuh '72 has stepped in and graciously spent many hours designing and also funding an official MBHS Alumni website (www.missionbayhighalumni.com) which provides a great new and necessary source of communication. We received a private donation for the software necessary to begin the data base of thousands of alumni/staff. Cheryl Seelos, Principal, has also offered her enthusiastic support and set us up on campus with a dedicated computer and work station. The next step is to start creating our data base and inputting, from scratch, the addresses of all the alumni and staff we can possibly locate. This is a big job! Once the data base is created, our goal is to send out invites to our entire BUC community and host a "MBHS Alumni Association Kick Off Party" at Homecoming, Fall 2007. The Kick Off Party will also provide an opportunity for alumni/staff to volunteer for MBHSAA board and committee positions. We anticipate after the Kick Off Party the MBHSAA will be self supporting and off and running, BUT we need your help with the "behind the scenes" ground work.
The MBHSAA is in need of "seed money" to fund the following:
* Part time on campus position to manage, train volunteers and input the alumni/staff data collected. This position would also implement the alumni association on the MBHS campus with current students, teachers and staff and coordinate alumni events. (Estimated cost: 200 hours x $10/hour = $2000)
* Upgrades to our website to include PayPal for direct alumni membership sign up and purchasing MBHS alumni items.
* Design and purchase of MBHS alumni items to sell on website and alumni events.
* Postage, printing and materials for invitations and newsletters.
* Design, printing and materials of MBHSAA membership cards.
We are asking for just a $25.00 donation (or more if you are so generously inclined) to help with the start up costs of this exciting endeavor. Please keep in mind, the MBHS Alumni Association (dba Mission Bay High School Community Foundation) is an operating 501(c)(3) non profit corporation and all donations are 100% tax deductible. Donations may be made payable to Mission Bay High School Community Foundation. Please memo "Alumni Association" on the check and mail to:
Mission Bay High School Community Foundation
c/o Friends of Pacific Beach Secondary Schools
PO Box 99754

Or, as they say, time is money! If you have time to work with us we warmly welcome all volunteers.
Also, please check out all the great things happening at MBHS at www.missionbayhighalumni.com including the start of the prestigious International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme this fall.and be sure to sign the guest book too!
