Dear Family and Friends,

Although I have never been personally impacted by the painful realities of breast cancer, I have always been deeply moved by how many women face this disease each and every year. We hear about the struggles of women like Elizabeth Edwards, Sheryl Crow and Robin Roberts on the news almost every day, but one in every 200 women my age will be diagnosed with this disease this year alone. In fact, according to the World Health Organization, 1.2 million women worldwide will be diagnosed with breast cancer. Sadly, breast cancer remains the second leading cause of cancer deaths among women today.

Recently I learned from a friend of mine about a wonderful and memorable event that I just knew I had to be a part of. On November 9th through 11th I will be participating in the San Diego 3-Day Walk for Breast Cancer. I will be joining thousands of people who will be walking 60 miles over the course of three days. This event is the largest 3-day event in the country and I am thrilled to be a part of it!

I hope you can understand why this event is so important to me, and that you will understand why I'm asking for your financial support. It's hard asking family and friends for money, but this event is just an incredible opportunity for such a worthy cause. Your tax deductable donation will benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation for the Cure and the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund - organizations that support the research, education and treatment of breast cancer.
