ON THE ROAD AGAIN

Thanks to Walter Andersen for the letters and pictures.

BEFORE

May 19, 2009

Here are some photos I sent to Nebraska this morning. They wanted a photo of the car and the 'codgers' who will at the old car rally next month. We are taking a 1931 Model A Ford.
Jody and I bought this car in 1963 from a good friend of my parents. He was an older gentleman and had diabetes and lost his leg to it. He could no longer drive this. He had taken the trunk lid off and made a small box in the back, sort of like a "pickup" for work. I found the parts to put it back to 'almost original' and painted it. We drove this call all over on Model A tours. Ken used to fall asleep in the 'package tray' behind the seat, next to the back window. We did not use the car for a while and it was kind of 'shop worn' from all of the miles we put on it. About 14 years ago I sanded and painted it again in my garage. Hope we have few problems on our next "adventure" in Nebraska. We will be mostly staying in Scotts Bluff; the rally starts there each day and we drive around in that part of the USA.
I'll send some photos of the trip if we make it back. We leave June 2, trailering the car. At least we have a better chance to get there, but Jody and I used to take this car everywhere, but not nearly that far. Usually back then it was between 100 and 150 miles one way, so that made a 300 mile trip sometimes. Art is a MBHS graduate from 1959 (I think, could be '60, but '59 sounds more like it) He should be in our 1958 annual. Arthur Gibbs

AFTER

I got back from Nebraska this evening,(June 9,2009) in one piece, a little ragged, lots of rain, lightening and tornado warnings near Scotts Bluff. We had a good time, but grueling, also some trouble with the Model A, but did finish each of the three days, but 'crippled'. Fun event, but a long drive for three days of running the event. I'll send some pix when I get them out of the camera.
 ---------------------------------
These were the first photos of our trip. This was at a campground in Beaver Utah, last Tuesday (June 2) We camped out about half of the time, the first night in NE it was raining pretty hard, so went to a Motel, another motel in Wyoming, raining hard again and tents were wet from the Nebraska storms.. I have more of the Scotts Bluff area and the cars, but later.
