Walter Andersen's Trip with his daughter, Karen (summer, 2010)
Australia
Here are some pix from our trip.
It starts in Sydney; you will recognize some from there, then up to Cairns, which is pretty far north, very beautiful and tropical.

Next stop, click to go to : Bali
Next stop is Bali, which is an Indonesian Island. It is a pretty big Island, they say about 3,000,000 or so on this Island. It is very tropical, and very pretty. Lots of small towns and villages, lots of rice fields and lush tropical jungles in the areas they can't farm. Very narrow roads and the driving is just crazy, but we never saw an accident, which is good. I did not drive for sure, not worth it. One day Karen and I hired a driver and a guide, they took us many places. This all day tour cost us $80.00 including lunch and entry to a couple of things on the tour, like the elephant park, which was exceptionally nice. Singapore is the most beautiful modern city I have ever seen. It is immaculate, no litter anywhere and the downtown area has lots of plantings everywhere with lush tropical plants, it is amazing. The buildings are beautiful, both old and new. They have a wonderful underground transportation system, that makes our Trolley System here look like an antique. We went on the worlds largest Ferris Wheel, from there we could see one of the newer hotels, looks like a boat on top of three towers.
You should be able to check out the ferris wheel at www.singaporeflyer.com
