What's Going On?
May 2010

with Betty Waddell Cerney
Betty, as most of you probably know, is still in there fighting her cancer. When I last talked to her a week or so ago, she had started radiation treatments. She is still cheerful and upbeat and grateful for the "extra time" the treatments have given her, even though she tires easily. However she even has an excuse for that-- She sent me an e-mail about a month ago in which she said: " I sure poop out fast, but then whatta I expect... I'M OLD! :)"
Included in her e-mail was this "timely" reunion story which I am sharing here because I love it!!!
Reunion at the
Restaurant
A group of 40-year old girlfriends discussed where
they should meet for dinner. Finally it was agreed that they
should meet at the Ocean View Restaurant because the waiters there were
good looking and had buff bodies.
Ten years later, at 50 years of age, the group once again discussed
where they should meet for dinner. Finally, it was agreed that
they should meet at the Ocean View Restaurant because the food there was
very good and it had an excellent wine selection.
Ten years later, when they were all 60, the group once again discussed
where they should meet for dinner. They agreed that they would
meet again at the Ocean View Restaurant because they could eat there in
peace and quiet and the restaurant had a beautiful view of the ocean.
Ten years later the group, all 70 years of age, once again discussed
where they should meet for dinner. Finally it was agreed that they
should meet at the Ocean View Restaurant because the restaurant was
wheel chair accessible and they even had an elevator.
Ten years later, at 80 years of age, the group once again discussed
where they should meet for dinner. Finally it was agreed that they
should meet at the Ocean View Restaurant because they had never been
there before

First Saturday Breakfast Bunch
May 1, 2010
everyone welcome!
everyone
welcome!
Next breakfast-June 5, 2010, 9 AM
5955 Balboa Ave. (at Mt. Alifan/Mt. Abernathy)
We had a reasonable crowd this time; no rearranging the furniture. Several of our "regulars" were missing, and we had no new comers this month. I took the liberty of goofing off and taking only two pictures. By now you all know what everyone looks likes, so I tried to get a couple of pictures of those who are not with us all the time.
Here is the group we had for breakfast:
Class of 1956: Ray A. Hacecky & wife, Joan; LuAnn Easterly Giegler and husband, Don (from the class of 1954 LTHS, IL); David Castle;
Class of 1957: Bruce Livermore
Class of 1958: Marie Gilmour Davila & husband, Bob(class of 1955, New Braunfels, TX); John Moore & wife, Joyce (class of 1958, Pasadina HS, Houston, TX), and service poodle, Cassie Moore; Sheila Mura; Walter Andersen; Bill Lansville, Orpha Higley; Wayne & Pam Priest Lollis;
Class of 1959: Bill Crigler; Bill Curtis; Christiana Wagner;
Joyce & John Moore (Cassie is under the table) started coming to the breakfast in January; Bob Davila is alway here, but he's in the picture anyway. Walter Andersen has been busy with his nursery & hasn't been to see us for awhile. Bill Lansville, makes it down here frequently-(from Barstow!)and Sheila Mura is always with us for breakfast. Some of the rest of the group is in the mirror.
Bill Crigler from the class of 1959 has been here before, as has Bruce Livermore from 1956 and we are glad to see them again. Bill Curtis from the class of 1959 is with us almost every month.

From our Classmates
Phill Hansen sent an interesting article called "25 Things About to Become Extinct in America" . You may decide if you will miss some of the things, by clicking on the link. I think I won't miss the measles myself. Oop, I gave one of them away.
